I am already for a while watching and readind on this site and cant understand one thing -why you guys, prefer goes to agencys sites than just normal site where normal(or at least half of tham normal))) women?Who can tell me the answer?

Some of the dating sites are run by scammers, most are run by business people who only care about massive numbers of members....and don't delete scammers.
On some dating sites scammers contact you, and steer you toward fake translation sites.

Anywhere you may be in contact with 'unknown' people on the internet, you need to be very careful.

Anna- I guess that agencies are percieved to be more reputable. They have an office, a landline, are registered for tax purposes, etc. It gives the illusion that they are honest. In fact, they are just a business there for one purpose only - to make money.
Scammers know that people will pay money blindly ("love is blind") in order to meet the right person in life. True, some people get lucky- but the vast majority don't. A bit like the lottery- those who play believe that "you've got to be in it to win it" build up false illusions, and end up with nothing but disappointment.
Anyway, I'll check out that love.rambler.ru site you mention. I would say that all "romance" sites have many normal members, but also plenty of scammers as well. Also, a considerable number of time wasters (rather than "scammers") who get their kicks from playing games infect these sites.

Latvian certainly is a difficult language, and I only know a few words But I did actually study Russian (one evening a week for 4 years) some 15 years ago in London... only there is no real opportunity to use it here- and so going through the Rambler site was not easy (it's all in Russian only)...

Anyway, I put in a profile (with my photo), and so far got 9 letters! Amazing! Most, of course, are definitely scammers- but 2 or 3 are probably real (at least, they appear to be). So, it seems that Russian scammers also target Russian dating sites- I didn't expect that...

I think you make a good point there.

Everyone is different, and so many only write one or two words in their replies. This makes it really difficult to know what to write back.

For example, if I get something like "What's your favourite colour?" (their email consisting of only this question, nothing else)... shall I reply "It depends what for- for a car I like metallic grey, a shirt almost any colour- but I really like the green trees and blue sky/sea in nature. Do you have a favourite colour?" ..or should I just ignore those who write such odd and meaningless messages?

Funny but there are really all kinds of strange people about, it seems! Anyway, I get the impression that almost all the women on these sites are corresponding with a large number of men- and usually just for something to do whilst at their workplace-computers...

It's just amazing how people respond so differently. I prefer those who write more than just "Hi, how are you?" (of which there are a few as well)

And you're right that many men can be just as strange. In fact, there are probably more crazy men than crazy women on the net- and so I guess that scares many women away ''
