How much does it really cost for a girl to get a Russian (exit) passport? I know a visa to UK is currently 117EU so asking for $510 seems a bit extreme to me...

If someone is asking you for money for a visa it is a scam, unless you are there (in Russia) at her side. I am not sure how much a visa would cost. If you were in the state I could tell you how much the K-1 Visa (fiancee visa) cost.

Usually the scammers are pretending to get TOURIST visas, which are still difficult for a normal russian girl to get, and sure as hell not as quickl to get as they pretend.

ALso, you can NOT marry on a tourist visa! The girl will eventually be deported.

This is all fantasy, though, and they count on the victim not knowing anything about the visa process.

How much does it cost for the passport though?

translation of Anna's link

Cost of services on registration of the visa to England:
If you reserve at us places in regular group round cost of registration of the visa is specified in the description of the chosen round and is nominated in the same currency, as round (110 euros or 140 dollars)

If you reserve at us hotel your charges will make ₤25 for the visa - our services, plus consular gathering of embassy - 3500 rbl. for the multi-visa to England for 6 months

Anyone recommend an off line translator programme? One I can keep on the laptop during my visit in case of communication difficulties.

Gareth, have you met this lady in person before? Do you speak with her on the telephone? Is she suggesting that you fund her Passport whilst you are still only e-mail correspondents?

In answer to your original question; I just asked my wife, she said that if you apply through an agency it will cost £50-60 and if you apply direct it will take 2 or 3 months and cost about £10.

2 usually 1-1.5 month...not more...at least in saint peteresburg))))) but if some ques, or many official day offs,or vacation period,or probably small city and etc......than can be longer.....))))

Thanks all - this was just an inquiry - at least we all have some basic facts to go on when ladies start quoting for several hundred dollars....

If you check the things we tell you to in the email headers and find the indicators for a scam, it doesn't matter what the lady tells you......
She could recite the magna carta verbatim and I wouldn't believe her.....a whammy is coming!

If they did happen to give you 'correct' visa info, still don't send them money!
Even if 'she' isn't one of our mari el scammers, some women in the FSU, and other countries will trick a man into helping them with a visa, or travel expenses, just so they can have a holiday!

This does not mean she will spend the time with you...she may have a friend already lined up in your country..
