I often receive email from people saying they are anywhere from 18 to 29 years old. These people (all femaile according to them) have been concentrated around Africa and sometimes, the United States. The unusual thing is they all write with the unmistakable gramatical formates you would see coming out of Russia or the Ukraine. I have been blowing these messages off, but should I start following up to see if this is a new route to set up scams?

Usually, claiming to be from Africa or the UK/USA "but presently in South Africa" means it's a Nigerian scammer. This site only really deals with ones from the FSU. A quick email header check will tell you where they're really from. Nigerian scammers are much more likely to talk to you on instant message, whereas a FSU scammer almost always insists on emails only. If you find it's a Russian scammer then feel free to post the details here. If they turn out to be from elsewhere, then you can do a lot worse than give romancescam.com a look as they deal with scammers from all over the globe.
